Lucas Olaza , full name Lucas René Olaza Catrofe , (born July 21, 1994 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

Depending on the sources, 1.73 meters or 1.75 meters tall defensive player Olaza plays in Montevideo for the first division club River Plate Montevideo . In the Clausura 2012, a service for him in the Primera División is recorded for the first time . In the Clausura of the 2012/13 season he played 15 more league games (one goal), each of which he was also in the starting line-up. In the Apertura 2013 he completed 15 games in the top Uruguayan league until his last appearance on December 15, 2013 and scored six goals. He also played four times in the 2013 Copa Sudamericana . At the beginning of January 2014 he switched to the Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense on loan for six months . With the Brazilians he played six times in Serie A, four times in Paranaense 1 and once in the Copa do Brasil (no goal each time). At the end of July 2015, he joined the second team of the Spanish club Celta Vigo , who played in the Segunda División B , as part of a renewed loan deal over a year, which includes a purchase option . There he played 24 league games (no goal). A loan station at Danubio FC followed from July 2016 . In the 2016 season he played for the Montevideans in five first division games (no goal). In the 2017 season, 22 more appearances (six goals) followed in the Primera División and two completed games (two goals) in the 2017 Copa Sudamericana . During his time at Danubio, he was out for about half a year due to an injury. On July 24, 2017, Danubio officially announced his move to Argentina to CA Talleres .

National team

Olaza made his debut under coach Juan Verzeri on June 8, 2012 in the 2-0 win against the USA in the Uruguayan U-20 national team . He was a member of the Uruguayan U-20 squad for the 2013 U-20 World Cup in Turkey . There he became vice world champion with Uruguay. Olaza played in the tournament exclusively in the final game against France, when he came on in the 100th minute for Gianni Rodríguez . He was the only Uruguayan shooter to score on penalties. So far (as of July 13, 2013) he has completed nine international matches in this age group. He didn't score a goal.
