Lucas "Luke" Plapp (born December 24, 2000 in Melbourne ) is an Australian cyclist who competes in races on track and road .
Athletic career
Lucas Plapp attended the Maribyrnong Sports Academy in Melbourne. In 2018 he became two- time junior world champion on the track in the disciplines of points race and two-man team race (with Blake Quick ) ; in the team pursuit he won bronze. In the same year he was - each in the junior class - Oceania champion and national champion in the individual time trial . Plapp had his first road success on European soil in September 2018 when he was runner-up in the junior individual time trial world champion behind Belgian Remco Evenepoel .
In 2019, Plapp won silver in the single pursuit on the track at the Junior Oceania Championships. At the national level, he was the Australian elite champions in singles and team pursuits.
Honors
In December 2018, Plapp was named Junior Cyclist of the Year in Australia .
