Lucette Descaves

Lucette Descaves (born April 1, 1906 in Paris , † April 15, 1993 in Boulogne-Billancourt ) was a French pianist .

Life

Lucette Descaves was a student of Marguerite Long and studied at the Paris Conservatory with Yves Nat . There she won first prize in the piano class in 1923. She was considered a specialist in contemporary music. In 1932 she performed the Third Piano Concerto under the guidance of the composer Sergei Prokofiev . She also played the world premieres of André Jolivets Danses rituelles and his piano concerto. Her name is mainly associated with the piano concerto, which she performed more than a hundred times. Lucette Descaves recorded this concerto with the Orchester du Théâtre des Champs-Elysées under Ernest Bour in 1954.

From 1947 to 1976 she taught piano at the Paris Conservatory. Her numerous students included Brigitte Engerer , Bruno Rigutto , Katia and Marielle Labèque , Jean-Yves Thibaudet , Géry Moutier , Caroline Assier , Jean-Claude Pennetier , Jacques Boisgallais and Georges Pludermacher . In 1966 she published the book Un nouvel art du piano: exposés et documentation de pédagogie pianistique .
