Lucien Muratore (born August 29, 1878 in Marseille , † July 16, 1954 in Paris ) was a French opera singer ( tenor ) at the beginning of the 20th century.

Life

Lucien Muratore came from an Italian emigrant family . He recognized his artistic talent early on and took acting and singing lessons at the Comédie-Française . In Emma Calvé he found a motherly friend who advised him to turn his talent into the opera . In 1902 he made his operatic debut with the world premiere of Reynaldo Hahn's La Carmélite at the Opéra-Comique. Lucien Muratore was one of the most extraordinary singers of his time; his radiant tenor voice, dramatic and metallic like seldom a French tenor, combined with a dazzlingly beautiful male appearance, which did not fail to have an impact both on the stage and in private. In his second marriage he was married to the famous opera singer (soprano) Lina Cavalieri . He had been on stage with her as lovers in a performance of the opera Siberia in 1911 .
