Lucius is an American indie rock band from New York around the two singers Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig. The two women appear in twin looks with the same hairstyles and stage costumes.

Band history

Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig met while studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston . They banded together and went to Brooklyn , where they completed the formation Lucius in 2008 with guitarist Peter Lalish and Dan Molad on drums and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Burri .

In 2009 the band released a self-produced album entitled Songs from the Bromley House , but the first label release was an EP bearing the band name in 2012. A year later, the album Wildewoman was released by Mom + Pop Music . Not only did it get good reviews, it immediately got them into the independent and official album charts . The album was also released internationally via the Play It Again Sam label. In addition, Lucius went on a major tour through North America and Europe, among other things as an accompaniment to Jack White .

In addition to the band, the two singers also appeared as guests on albums from Rentals and Tweedy, among others .

Together with Weezer producer Shawn Everett, Lucius began work on the next album in 2015. Good Grief was completed the following year, putting them in the top 100 on the album charts and in the top 10 on the indie charts. Extensive tours and appearances followed again. Laessig and Wolfe were also guests at the Desert Trip concert by Roger Waters and The Who that fall.
