Lucjan Kulej

Lucjan Kulej (born November 29, 1896 in Danków , † July 13, 1971 in Katowice ) was a Polish ice hockey player and rower .

Career

Lucjan Kulej studied law and worked from the 1930s until the outbreak of World War II as a deputy public prosecutor in Katowice and as the chief public prosecutor in Łomża. He was one of the co-founders of the ice hockey department of AZS Warsaw and won the Polish championship five times in a row with the team between 1926 and 1931 . Kulej was also extremely successful in rowing , which, unlike ice hockey, was practiced in the summer months. In 1920 and 1925 he became Polish champion in four with helmsman and in 1920, 1922 and 1925 he won the Polish championship in eight. During the German occupation of Poland , he took part in the Warsaw Uprising as a lieutenant in 1944 . After the end of the war he returned to Katowice and opened a law firm .

International

For the Polish national ice hockey team , Kulej took part in the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz . At the European Championships in 1929 he won the silver medal with his country. He played a total of 34 international matches from 1926 to 1929.
