Luděk Marold
Luděk Marold (born August 7, 1865 in Prague ; † December 1, 1898 there ) was a Czech painter and graphic artist.
Life
The orphan, his father died in the German War in 1866, his mother six years later, began studying at the Prague Academy at the age of sixteen , was excluded and continued his studies with Professor Ludwig von Löfftz in Munich from 1881 to 1887 , where he learned among other things Know Mikoláš Aleš and other Czech painters. He returned to the Prague Academy and was tutored by Maximilián Pirner , worked in his studio and became editor of the Mánes Association . In 1889 he switched to the artistic-industrial school in Prague, where he received a scholarship for a stay in Paris. In Paris he lived on drawings for various publications until 1897. He also got to know many artists like Vojtěch Hynais here . He returned to Prague as an already distinguished artist. In 1898 he received a small gold medal at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition .
Works
During his studies he drew for a number of German magazines. His other works are mostly illustrations or bold representations, which exerted an inspirational influence on the Czech Art Nouveau in particular . His oil paintings Egg Market in Prague (Vaječný trh v Praze) 1888 or the panorama picture Bitva u Lipan ( Battle of Lipany ) are best known . It is a picture eleven meters high and 95 meters long. The sketches for the painting were made in Lipany , the decisive battle of the Hussite Wars. The landscape painter Václav Jansa , scenographer Karel Štapfer , colorist Theodor Hilšer and horse painter Vacátek worked on the picture.
