Ludolf von Maltzan, Freiherr zu Wartenberg and Penzlin (born November 13, 1864 in Peckatel ; † February 3, 1942 in Neustrelitz ; full name: Ludolf Bernhard Joachim von Maltzan ) was a landowner in Mecklenburg and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Ludolf von Maltzan (No. 786 of the gender census ) came from the so-called "Rothenmoor Branch" of his family . He was born as the youngest son of the landowner Friedrich (Carl Ernst Helmuth) von Maltzan (1822–1871; No. 734) and his wife Auguste, b. von Oertzen (1832–1864) born. Maltzan attended the cathedral school in Güstrow , the Katharineum in Lübeck , the Friderico-Francisceum and the Johann-Heinrich-Voss-Gymnasium . After graduating from high school, he studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . There he became active in the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg in 1886 . On October 1, 1888, he took over his father's property in Peckatel and held the high-ranking office of Hereditary Land Marshal von Wenden in the old Mecklenburg estate, which was traditionally inherited in his family for centuries. As a one-year volunteer , he served in the 2nd Guards Uhlan Regiment in 1887/88 , to which he was a reserve officer until 1894 .

Maltzan he was first chairman of the Central Association of Mecklenburg Fruit Growing Associations, ran a potato flake factory, a steam sawmill and a brickworks near Brustorf . The sawmill and the potato flake factory burned down at Christmas 1929. Therefore he had to sell Peckatel in 1934, but later bought it again and lived there until his death.

From 1898 to 1912 he was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin 4 Waren , Malchin and the German Conservative Party .

family

Ludolf von Maltzan was married twice: in 1890 his first marriage was Auguste ( Udi ) Countess von Bernstorff (1868-1919) and after her death in 1921 Jutta von Wurmb (1895-1975), from whom he was divorced again in 1935 . Five children are known from both marriages. In the history of the sexes, Maltzan, who himself belongs to the 20th generation of his family, is considered the progenitor of the so-called Peckatel family.
