Ludovica Karoline Albertine Emanuele Hesekiel (born July 3, 1847 in Altenburg , † April 6, 1889 in Neustadt bei Coburg ) was a German writer.

Life

Ludovica Ezekiel was born as the daughter of the journalist George Ezekiel and his wife Elisabeth. Her grandfather was the writer Leberecht Förster . Through their father, the poets Ludwig Tieck and Emanuel Geibel became their godparents.

After high school, she became the assistant to her father, who also worked as an editor for historical articles at Pierer's Universal-Lexikon , where she acquired an enormous amount of specialist knowledge, which she then benefited from as a writer. She published her entire literary work ( stories , novels , life pictures) under her birth name.

After her father's death, Ludovica lived with her family in Potsdam . There she was in lively correspondence with Theodor Fontane , who was working on von Wuthenow's chess at the time . Ezekiel's novels and short stories were mainly published in novel newspapers.
