Ludovico Podocathor , also Podochatero, Podocatharo, Podocatharus, Podacatharus, Podocathro (* 1429 in Nicosia , Cyprus , † August 25, 1504 in Milan ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church under Popes Alexander VI. and Innocent VIII.

Life

He was the private secretary and doctor of Rodrigo Borgia, later Pope Alexander VI, and Innocent VIII. On November 14, 1483 he was appointed Bishop of Capaccio and on September 28, 1500 Alexander VI raised him . to the cardinal in pectore . After he published his name on October 2, 1500, he appointed him Cardinal Deacon of Sant'Agata dei Goti on October 5, 1500 . On January 20, 1503 Podocathor also became Archbishop of Benevento , but from the beginning of 1504 he only held this position as administrator. He took part in the conclave of 1503 , from which Pius III. emerged as Pope.

His grave is in the church of Santa Maria del Popolo .
