Ludovico Romano
Ludovico Romano (born May 8, 1853 in Pomigliano d'Arco , † December 24, 1933 in Naples ) was an Italian architect. Until 1923 he was a city architect in Naples.
Life and works
Ludovico Romano was involved in the new construction and furnishing of the Palazzo Como in Naples, which was later used as the Museo Civico Gaetano Filangieri di Satriano . For the church of San Lorenzo Maggiore he created a restoration plan, which was only partially implemented. The construction of the new poor cemetery in 1888 goes back to Romano; for the cemetery in Poggioreale he created several tombs and chapels as well as the grave monument for Francesco De Sanctis . Romano also directed the construction of the halls of thanks to the unknown dead and designed the pedestal for the monument to Paolo Emilio Imbriani .
The Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg has a letter from Romanos written in German.
