Ludwig (Saint-Denis)
Ludwig († 867 ) was the only son of Rorgon , the later Count of Maine from the house of the Rorgonids and Rotrud , the daughter of Charlemagne .
He was already an abbot in 838 , became abbot of Saint-Denis in 840/841 and Arch Chancellor Charles the Bald and one of his key advisers. In 844 he also took over the monasteries of Saint-Quentin and Saint-Riquier , and then also the Abbey of Saint-Wandrille .
When Ludwig and his half-brother Gauzlin in Norman captivity came, Karl brought the Bald 858 the enormous ransom on that was required of them. Gauzlin joined the royal chancellery in 860 and was his successor after Ludwig's death.
