Ludwig Amandus Bauer

Ludwig Amandus Bauer , also Louis Bauer (born October 15, 1803 in Orendelsall , † May 22, 1846 in Stuttgart ) was a German historian and poet .

Life

Once born Orendelsall on 15 October 1803 Ludwig Bauer Amandus long the four years Seminar Blaubeuren had visited, he studied since 1821 at the pin Tübingen , first philosophy and later theology . There he made friends with Eduard Mörike , among others . After he finished his studies in 1825, Bauer first became a pastor in Ernsbach . Now he also devoted himself to history , and his poetry turned more and more to historical subjects. In 1831 he was employed as a teacher in a school in Stetten; as such he remained active for four years. In 1835 he moved to Stuttgart , where he first became a professor at the Katharinenstift and worked at the local grammar school from 1838. In 1842 he became editor of the magazine Schwaben, as it was and is, presented in a series of articles by various authors . Bauer died in Stuttgart on May 22, 1846; Immediately after his death, a collection of his works including some letters was published.
