Ludwig Christian Crell
Ludwig Christian Crell (born May 28, 1671 in Neustadt bei Coburg , † November 15, 1733 in Leipzig ) was a German philosopher .
Life
Ludwig Christian Crell was the son of a pastor. He studied in Leipzig from 1690 , acquired his master's degree in 1693 and qualified as a professor shortly afterwards. From 1699 he held the post of rector of the Nikolaischule in Leipzig. In the same year he became an assessor in the philosophy faculty at the University of Leipzig .
In 1708 he was appointed associate professor and then a short time later full professor of philosophy. At the university he held several offices, including that of dean and procurator.
He published numerous philosophical programs. He was distinguished by the writing of Latin poems and speeches. The anatomist Johann Friedrich Crell was his son.
