Johann Friedrich Crell (born January 6, 1707 in Leipzig , † May 19, 1747 in Helmstedt ) was a German anatomist and physiologist .

Life

Born as the son of Ludwig Christian Crell , he attended schools in his hometown and obtained the degree of doctor of medicine at the University of Leipzig in 1732 . In 1737 he was appointed professor of anatomy and physiology at the University of Wittenberg , and in 1741 he was appointed professor in the same position at the University of Helmstedt , where he worked until the end of his life. In 1742 he was accepted into the Leopoldina . In addition to his function as a professor of medicine, his work on the Acta Eruditorum is worth mentioning.
