Ludwig Gerhardt

Ludwig Gerhardt (born November 1, 1938 in Halle an der Saale ) is a German Africanist .

Life

Dietrich Kurt Gerhardt's son attended elementary school in Zorbau 1944–1945, Halle an der Saale 1945–1946, Erlangen 1946–1948 and grammar school 1948–1958 in Münster . After graduating from high school in 1958 at the Schillergymnasium in Münster , he did military service : 1958–1959 (first lieutenant ). He completed his African studies, phonetics and musicology studies in Hamburg from 1959 to 1967 with a doctorate in 1967. He carried out field research in Northern Nigeria in 1968/1969 ( Plateau languages) and in Northern Nigeria in 1982/1983 (Jarawan Bantu languages. He was a research assistant in Hamburg , 1968–1970; 1973–1975. He was awarded a post-doctoral scholarship from the DFG 1972–1973 After his habilitation in 1974 he received positions: Professorship for African Studies (C-2) University of Hamburg 1975 (accepted) and Full Professor of African Studies I, University of Bayreuth 1992 (rejected).
