Ludwig Gerstein (born January 11, 1928 in Rotterdam , † October 30, 1994 in Dortmund ) was a German mine director and CDU politician.

Life

Gerstein's parents were the businessman Johann Daniel Gerstein (1900–1985) and Ilse Koechling (1903–1985). From 1948 he studied at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the RWTH Aachen . In 1949 he became a member of the Corps Montania Aachen. From 1966 to 1977 he was the mine director of the Zeche Hansa in Huckarde . Gerstein joined the Christian Democratic Union in 1968 . From 1970 to 1985 he was district chairman of the CDU in Dortmund and from 1976 to 1990 a member of the German Bundestag . For his services to a bipartisan consensus in energy and coal policy, he received the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class , in 1985 .
