Ludwig Häßlein
Ludwig Häßlein (born November 4, 1906 in Pfahlenheim , Middle Franconia, † September 29, 1979 ) was a German teacher, malacoologist and archivist.
Career
In his professional life, Häßlein was a senior teacher at an elementary school. After he made the acquaintance of David Geyer (1855–1932), an expert in the field of native molluscs , in 1920 , he became interested in it himself and subsequently published several works on the molluscs of Central Europe. The preoccupation with the topic earned him the nickname "Schnecken-Häßlein". In 1967 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Erlangen for his scientific contribution .
After August Rebmann's death in 1967 he took over the management of the Lauf city archive , which he ran until 1978.
Ludwig Häßlein was married to Edith Häßlein and had two children, Wolfgang and Uta.
