Ludwig Hörmann von Hörbach (born October 12, 1837 in Feldkirch , † February 14, 1924 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian writer and librarian.

Life

Ludwig Hörmann von Hörbach studied classical philology at the University of Innsbruck . In 1860 he became a member of the Corps Rhaetia and the Academic Choral Society. Hörmann completed his studies with a doctorate to become Dr. phil. from. In 1865 he married Angelika Geiger (actually Emilie), who was also active as a writer. Hörmann found his first professional job as a teacher at the kk Staatsgymnasium Innsbruck . After five years as a librarian in Klagenfurt and Graz , he became curator at the Innsbruck University Library in 1877 . From 1882 to 1902 he was its director. As a writer , folklorist and historian , he dedicated himself to the customs , history and landscapes of the Alpine countries. The focus was on Tyrol and Vorarlberg .

Remarks

  1. At that time there were very many Innsbruck Corps students in the AGV who enjoyed singing. The AGV was not a corporation, but an inconclusive, not even satisfactory choral society .  It was not until the end of the 1870s that he changed to a corporation - the university singers of the Skalden zu Innsbruck . So the Innsbruck Corps students left the AGV.
