Ludwig Hausmann
Ludwig Hausmann (born March 16, 1803 in Berlin , † February 7, 1876 in Munich ) was a German theater actor and comedian .
Life
Actually a trained pharmacist, Hausmann did not take to the stage until he was 23 years old, in Magdeburg, after having learned the basics of the art of acting at a Berlin lovers' theater. In 1827 he went to Aachen, from here to Breslau. Then he was at the theater in der Josefstadt (1828 to 1833). He was also so well received during a guest performance in Vienna's Leopoldstädter Theater , where he first appeared, that the six contractually agreed evenings turned into 20, which is all the more remarkable since the Viennese had made him uncomfortable on the first evening, uncomfortable with his North German speech fail. For four years he retained the favor of the Leopoldstadt public, but then accepted an application to Mannheim , where he worked from 1838 to 1849. From 1850 he no longer took on a permanent engagement, but gave guest performances at well-known theaters in Germany for a short time before finally retiring to Munich, where he also died.
He was married to Julie Weick since 1838 ; their daughter was Marie Dahn-Hausmann .
