Life

Bojanus studied at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . He taught as a university professor at the Russian University of Vilnius at the time . In his scientific work he dealt with aurochs , snakes and turtles and wrote the work Anatome Testudinis Europaeae . In the area of ​​the organs of the molluscs , the organ Bojanus was named after him, which has the function of a kidney in molluscs. The specific epithet of the largest known mammal of the Triassic , Lisowicia bojani , was named in his honor.
