Ludwig Hildenhagen
Ludwig Hildenhagen (born May 28, 1809 in Lochau , † February 16, 1893 in Halle an der Saale ) was a German Protestant pastor and politician.
Life
family
Ludwig Hildenhagen was the son of Johann Friedrich Christoph Hildenhagen (1782–1831), councilor and manor owner in Lochau, and Johanna Christiane born. Voigt (1785-1815). Ludwig Hildenhagen married Sophie Ernestine Luise Krüger (born June 3, 1817 in Celle ; † March 17, 1897) in Celle on September 25, 1838 . The couple had eight children.
Career
Hildenhagen attended the Roßleben monastery school and studied theology in Halle and Berlin . In Halle he became a member of the Burschenschaftlichen Kränzchen in 1828 and a member of the Corps Saxonia in 1829 . From 1838 he was pastor in Quetz near Halle. He was in contact with Friedrich Froebel and directed the first kindergarten in the province of Saxony . There he also founded an agriculture school.
In 1848 he was a member of the Prussian National Assembly for the constituency of Bitterfeld . There he officiated as secretary. Against the counter-revolution he took part in the tax refusal campaign in November 1848. In 1849 he was a member of the second chamber of the Prussian state parliament . He rejected the imposed constitution and belonged to a group of 47 MPs who called for a constitutional reform with the goal of a democratic-constitutional monarchy.
Because of his political activities during the revolution, he was dismissed as pastor in 1851. He went to Halle and lived as a private scholar and as an agent for the Gothaer fire insurance and life insurance bank .
In Halle, Hildenhagen played a leading role in the local craft training and trade association. In 1863 he became a city councilor and in 1872 an unpaid city councilor.
