Ludwig König (Senator)

Ludwig König (born November 20, 1901 in Munich ; † January 25, 1970 there ) was a German master gardener. He was President of the Bavarian Horticultural Association in the 1950s and 1960s and was a member of the Bavarian Senate from 1954 until his death .

After elementary school and attending Sabel's commercial school, König completed an apprenticeship as a gardener in his parents' business. Between 1921 and 1925 he stayed in Frankfurt am Main , Berlin and Hamburg for further training. In 1936 he took over his parents' nursery and passed his master craftsman examination in 1940.

From 1928, König began to volunteer for the Bavarian Horticultural Association. In 1952 he was elected first chairman of the association and held this office until his death. In this position he was elected to the Bavarian Senate on January 1, 1954 as a representative of the Agriculture and Forestry Group, to which he also belonged until his death. Here he was from 1954 to 1970 a member of the building committee, from 1959 to 1962 a member of the special committee on water law and from 1962 to 1970 a member of the legal and constitutional committee.

In 1963, König was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit for his social services .
