Ludwig Kainzbauer (born June 12, 1855 in Graz ; † July 20, 1913 there ) was an Austrian painter and art writer .

Kainzbauer graduated from the commercial academy in 1870 and then worked in his father's glass trade.

However, he decided to study at the Landscape Drawing Academy in Graz.

He continued his studies from 1879 to 1881 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Hugo Crola and Heinrich Lauenstein and from April 30, 1881 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Alois Gabl .

He was also a student of Friedrich von Keller . From 1884 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Hans Canon , August Eisenmenger and Christian Griepenkerl .

In 1886 he settled in Graz. In 1897 he was appointed assistant and in 1902 head of the landscape drawing school.

He took part in the annual exhibitions of the Styrian Association of Visual Artists.
