Ludwig Kilanyi

Ludwig Kilanyi (Hungarian Lajos Kilányi ; born March 17, 1819 in Pest , Kingdom of Hungary , † April 22, 1861 in Vienna - Ottakring , Austrian Empire ) was a Hungarian ballet dancer and ballet master who also worked as a ballet choreographer . His wife Therese Kilanyi also worked as a dancer, ballet master and choreographer.

Life

Ludwig Kilanyi initially studied medicine, but then took ballet lessons from the then highly respected ballet master F. Crombé. In 1842 he became a member of the ensemble at the German Theater Pest . In 1846 he married Therese Papp. As a soloist couple, the two joined the newly founded national dancer group of Alexander Veszter and undertook various guest tours with them to Vienna, neighboring Germany , but also to Paris and London .

From 1857 until his death he worked as a ballet master at the kk priv. Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna, where his wife became his successor.
