Ludwig Lippert
Ludwig Lippert , actually Ludvig Lippert (born August 4, 1878 in Denmark ; † 1939 there ) was a Danish photographer , cameraman and director for domestic and German silent films of the 1920s.
Life
Lippert began training as a photographer shortly before the turn of the century and was hired as a film reporter by Nordisk Film Kompagni in 1906 . In this capacity, Lippert made short documentaries in Africa and Asia in 1908 as a cameraman and occasionally as a director in 1908/09. Immediately afterwards, in 1909, he began working as a film cameraman and took photos a. a. several early works with Viggo Larsen .
Shortly after the end of the First World War , Lippert joined the general exodus of Danish filmmakers in the direction of Berlin. In the 1920s he was a sought-after image designer for some very ambitious entertainment films and photographed top stars such as Henny Porten , Asta Nielsen and Mia May for more important films, often in collaboration with other cameramen .
In the second half of the 1920s, Ludwig Lippert stood behind the camera several times in Reinhold Schünzel's early productions . After his last production, resulting in winter 1928/29 Napoleon -Drama Napoleon at Saint Helena , Lippert was also the Schünzel film column X committed, but in May 1929 after only two days of filming by the colleague Willy Goldberger replaced and Opening credits not mentioned. As a result, Lippert returned to his homeland Denmark during the period of upheaval from silent to sound films, where he died ten years later. As a film cameraman, he would never go back to work.
