Ludwig Reinhold von Werner (born May 5, 1726 in Brasnicken , East Prussia ; † November 19, 1756 ) was a German administrative officer and author of historical treatises.

Ludwig Reinhold von Werner came from a family of officials and officers who had lived in East Prussia since the 16th century and were raised to the nobility in 1701. In 1745 he became a Royal Prussian War and Domain Council in Gumbinnen . He was then employed in Küstrin . In 1756 he resigned from the service. Because he wanted to become a professor at the University of Frankfurt an der Oder , he acquired the academic title of Doctor of Laws at the University of Greifswald in 1756 . However, he died that same year at the age of thirty.

Werner wrote a number of essays, mainly of local history, including treatises on the East Prussian cities of Angerburg , Lyck , Johannisburg and Lötzen . The historian Max Toeppen commented on Werner's writings as follows:

»The council of war LR v. Werner wrote a series of treatises on individual cities in Prussia, which in form and content are unmistakably related to the "town hall inventories", which had to be created in the cities according to a prescribed scheme in the time of King Friedrich Wilhelm I. The treatises are still very useful because of their content, even if their form, the jumble of notes under empty paragraphs, could not be thought of as hideous. They are collected under the name l'oleographia patriae and are given a general introduction in this collection. "
