Ludwig Richter (mechanical engineer)
Ludwig Karl Friedrich Johann Richter (born November 24, 1888 in Vienna ; † January 15, 1970 there ) was an Austrian mechanical engineer and university lecturer . He was rector of the Vienna University of Technology .
Life
Ludwig Richter studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. He then worked in industry and as an assistant to Richard Mollier in Dresden, interrupted by three years of military service. In 1924 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Dresden .
In 1927 he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Vienna. From 1928 until his retirement in 1959 he was a full professor for internal combustion engines and automotive engineering. In the 1954/55 academic year he was elected rector of the Vienna University of Technology . In 1956 he was awarded the VDI award.
Together with Ladislaus von Rabcewicz , he researched questions relating to tunnel ventilation during the Second World War .
Ludwig Richter died in 1970 at the age of 81.
