Ludwig Schäfer (born June 4, 1912 in Füssen , † February 2, 2003 in Munich ) was a German judge.

Schäfer began his professional career as a court assessor at the Augsburg Regional Court. From 1939 to 1945 he did military service and was then taken into American captivity until 1946. On February 1, 1948, he was appointed to the regional judge in Augsburg, in 1954 to the higher regional judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court and on January 1, 1961 to the judge at the Federal Court of Justice. However, he had to give up this post after a year, because the humid climate in Karlsruhe caused him problems. Schäfer initially returned to the Munich Higher Regional Court, moved to the Bavarian Supreme Court in 1963 and was again President of the Senate of the Munich Higher Regional Court in 1964. On November 1, 1966, he was promoted to President of the Senate at the Bavarian Supreme Court and finally appointed President of the Bavarian Supreme Court on September 1, 1968. From July 7, 1958 to the end of 1960 and from April 10, 1962 to 1977, he was also a member of the Bavarian Constitutional Court , since June 9, 1970 as a further deputy to the President. Ludwig Schäfer retired on June 30, 1977 and left the Bavarian judicial service.

For his services, he was honored with the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1974 and the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1978 . Schäfer had been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Tuiskonia Munich since 1931.
