Ludwig Schäfer (politician)

Ludwig Adolf Hermann Schäfer (born February 2, 1812 in Assenheim , † January 29, 1879 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian judge and politician and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Ludwig Schäfer was the son of court, official and physics surgeon and district surgeon Karl Heinrich Schäfer (1775–1875) and his wife Juliane, née Schneider. Schäfer, who was of Protestant faith, married Sophie Madeleine Karoline Pauline, born Habicht (1818–1901), on December 20, 1840 in Echzell.

Schäfer studied law at the University of Giessen from 1830 . In 1842 he became an assessor at the Friedberg Regional Court (Hessen) Friedberg Regional Court , later at the Langen Regional Court and in 1846 at the Ortenberg Regional Court . In 1858 he became a district judge at the Gernsheim district court . He retired in 1878.

From 1866 to 1872 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Starkenburg 13 / Gernsheim . In the estates he represented liberal-conservative positions.
