Louis XI. von Oettingen († 1440 ), called im Barte, was Count von Oettingen and court master under Emperor Sigismund .

Life

Louis XI. was the son of Ludwig X. von Oettingen († March 1, 1370) and the Imagina von Schaunberg († November 5, 1377). Louis XI. was married to Beatrix von Helfenstein († 1385) and from 1420 in second marriage to Agnes von Werdenberg († December 17, 1474) since December 15, 1374 . From the first marriage came Wilhelm I († September 7, 1406) and Anna († November 9, 1436), who was married to Margrave Bernhard I of Baden . From the second marriage came Louis XII. († June 17, 1422). A brother of Ludwig XI., Friedrich IV. Von Oettingen , was bishop of Eichstätt from 1381 until his death in 1413 .

In the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Kirchheim am Ries there is an epitaph for Ludwig XI. The epitaph, on the wall next to the altar, represents Louis XI. life-size in magnificent armor . The original painting is still preserved.
