Ludwig Zichner

Ludwig Zichner (born February 13, 1942 in Berlin ) is a German emeritus for orthopedics .

Life path

After graduating from high school, Ludwig Zichner studied medicine from 1961 at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg , the University of Vienna and the Medical Academy in Düsseldorf . He became a member of the Corps Franconia Tübingen (1961) and the Corps Marchia Brno (1965), which was then based in Düsseldorf . After the state examination in December 1966, he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD . From 1967 to 1968 he was a medical assistant at the University Medical Center Düsseldorf and the University Medical Center Essen . In 1969 he went to Zurich University Hospital as an assistant doctor , where he worked in pathology until March 1970 and then in trauma surgery until September 1972 . In October 1972 he moved to the Orthopedic University Clinic Friedrichsheim as an assistant doctor . There he became a specialist in orthopedics in April 1975 . He completed his habilitation in 1977 and became a senior physician . Since 1979 senior physician, he was in 1982 by the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main to apl. Professor appointed. From August 1987 to April 1992 he was chief physician at the orthopedic clinic of the Frankfurt-Höchst City Clinic . In May 1992 he was appointed professor and medical director of the Friedrichsheim. In March 2007 he retired .

His main research interests were biomaterial , endoprosthetics , systemic skeletal diseases , electrical stimulation of ossification and bone metabolism.

  • Founding President (1994) and honorary member (1996) of the German Association for Orthopedic Sports Traumatology, DVOST.
  • Honorary Chairman of DVOST.
  • President of the German Society for Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, DGPC (2000/01)
  • 1st Chairman of the Sports Medical Association of Hesse (2004–2010)
  • Chairman of the board of the German Orthopedic History and Research Museum.
