Ludwig Karl August von Hagemeister ( Russian Леонтий Адрианович Гагемейстер June, Leonti Adrianowitsch Gage Champion) (born 5 . Jul / 16th June  1780 greg. In Drostenhof , Livonia , † December 22, 1833 jul. / 3. January  1834 greg. 22nd December 1833 in Saint Petersburg ) was a German Baltic explorer.

Hagemeister came from a Pre-Pomeranian family who came to Livonia via Sweden in 1686 and from the Swedish King Charles XI in 1692 . was ennobled. His parents were Adrian Balthasar von Hagemeister, member of the government in Ufa , and Ottilie Charlotte von Glasenapp .

Hagemeister was a volunteer from 1795 and an officer in the Russian fleet two years later. In 1802 he was posted to the British fleet for three years, where he was honored by Admiral Nelson .

In 1806/1807 Hagemeister went on a sea voyage with the Neva , from 1816 to 1819 with the Kutuzov and from 1828 to 1830 with the Krotki . From January to October 1818 he was governor of the Russian-American Company in Russian America . From 1830 he was a colonel in the helmsman's corps head of the school for merchant shipping.

Hagemeister were awarded the Georgs-Order 4th class and the Annen-Order 2nd class. The Hagemeister Island in Alaska, which he discovered in 1818, is named after him.
