Ludwig von Lossow

Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig von Lossow (born September 21, 1836 in Wurzen , † October 24, 1904 in Serkowitz ) was a Saxon major general .

Life

Ludwig von Lossow, who came from the Lossow family of the Brandenburg nobility , took part in the German-Austrian war with the Saxon army in 1866 . In 1867 he was awarded the Austrian Military Merit Cross with war decoration. In 1870 he was a captain of the 10th Company of the Rifle Fusilier Regiment No. 108 . In 1870/71 he distinguished himself several times in the Franco-Prussian War and received, in addition to the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry, the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit with war decoration and the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

In 1874 Lossow was promoted to major and transferred to the 1st (Leib) Grenadier Regiment No. 100 . In the following year 1875 he published together with other military co-authors a book on the history of the Royal Saxon Jägerbrigade and the Rifle Regiment No. 108. In 1876 Lossow was transferred as a commander in the 1st Battalion of said Rifle Regiment No. 108. In 1881 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.

As a colonel, von Lossow became the fortress commander of Königstein fortress in 1886 ; during that service he was promoted to major general.

When he retired, Lossow moved back to Lößnitz, where he lived for the last few years in a house belonging to F. W. Eisold (Wilhelmstraße 11 [cadastral no. 60G], today Pestalozzistr. 28: Villa Leila ) and from 1902/03 in the one he owned , newly built Villa Weintraubenstrasse 6 .

On August 3, 1904, a few weeks before his death, Lossow received an entry in the royal Saxon nobility book under the number 118 .

Lossow was buried in the Kötzschenbrodaer Friedhof .
