Ludwig von Rohden

Ludwig von Rohden (born June 27, 1815 in Lüneburg , † February 26, 1889 ) was a German Protestant theologian and mission inspector.

Life

Ludwig von Rohden, the son of a bookseller, grew up in Lübeck , where he passed the Abitur at Michaelis in 1833 at the Katharineum . He then studied Protestant theology in Berlin and Bonn . After that he worked temporarily as a teacher and assistant chaplain in Lübeck.

Since May 1, 1846, he worked for the Rheinische Missionsgesellschaft in Barmen as a teacher at their missionary seminar. Here he also became a chronicler of the Rhenish Mission, whose history he wrote. In 1857 he became head of the seminary, in November 1884 first inspector and thus head of the Rhenish Mission.

His sons were the classical archaeologist Hermann von Rohden (1852-1916), the theologian Gustav von Rohden (1855-1942) and the ancient historian Paul von Rohden (1862-1939).
