history

Described as a good resting place as early as 1504 , Ludwigshöhe developed into a popular destination from the middle of the 19th century. In 1864 the Schmalzberg was renamed Ludwigshöhe in honor of King Ludwig II . Originally only used as a name for the premises of the inn that already existed at that time, the name Ludwigshöhe soon became the name of the entire Schmalzberg.

In 1896, the increasing importance of Ludwigshöhe as an excursion destination for the Nuremberg population was taken into account when a Ludwigshöhe stop was built that year as part of the railway construction.

Today the Ludwigshöhe is a popular residential area. The settlement was of little importance until 1928, when there were just 12 houses on Ludwigshöhe, but after the Second World War, building activity began in 1955. In the 1950s, Ludwigshöhe already had 44 houses.

The Bayernbodensiedlung , which was built from 1970 with 23 terraced and 23 semi-detached houses as well as 15 single houses, contributed to the development of the southern slope of the Ludwigshöhe into an attractive residential area in Rückersdorf.
