Lugano Prealps (SOIUSA)
The Lugano Prealps (or after the Partizione delle Alpi also Western Lombard Prealps or Lugano Alps ) are a mountain group of the Western Alps (section 11 according to SOIUSA classification ). They are located in Switzerland in the canton of Ticino and in Italy in the Lombardy region .
Limits
The Lugano Prealps are limited:
- from Lake Maggiore in the west
- from the Locarno - Bellinzona - Gravedona line in the north, or the San Jorio Pass .
- from the eastern arm of Lake Como to the east
- from the Po Valley in the south.
The highest mountain is the Pizzo di Gino (2245 m).
