Luigi Rotelli
Luigi Rotelli (born July 26, 1833 in Corciano , Province of Perugia , Italy , † September 15, 1891 in Rome ) was initially bishop and later cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Rotelli studied theology in Perugia and was ordained a priest on December 20, 1856 . In 1857 he became a professor at the seminary of the diocese of Perugia .
Pope Leo XIII. awarded him the title of papal house prelate in 1878 and appointed him Bishop of Montefiascone in the same year. Cardinal Raffaele Monaco La Valletta donated his episcopal ordination to him . Co-consecrators were Giovanni Battista Paolucci and Giulio Lenti . In 1882 Rotelli became titular bishop of Pharsala . The next year he was an Apostolic Delegate in Constantinople. In 1887 he became apostolic nuncio in France.
Leo XIII. took him on June 1, 1891 as a cardinal priest in the College of Cardinals . Luigi Rotelli died before the Pope could assign him a titular church .
