Luigi Scaccianoce (born July 12, 1914 in Venice , Italy , † October 18, 1981 in Rome ) was an Italian film architect .

Live and act

Scaccianoce began studying architecture in his hometown of Venice in the early 1930s. He then went to Rome to study at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . His first cinematic tasks consisted in the assistant for various production designers . Shortly before the end of the Second World War, Scaccianoce started his work as chief architect.

Scaccianoces' early achievements mainly include historical and opera films, but he also designed the designs for several melodramas and war dramas. Luigi Scaccianoce worked with international directors at an early stage, including the Austrian Max Neufeld , the Germans John Brahm and Wilhelm Dieterle and the Americans Joseph Losey and Orson Welles . In later years Luigi Scaccianoce worked primarily with the most important innovators of Italian cinema such as Roberto Rossellini ( The fearless rebel ), Alberto Lattuada (The Steppe) and Federico Fellini ( Fellini's Satyricon ). Scaccianoce, on the other hand, delivered his most pioneering designs in the 1960s for Pier Paolo Pasolini's productions : Big Birds, Small Birds, Edipo Re - Bed of Violence and, as early as 1964, The First Gospel - Matthew . The film structures for the latter Pasolini director brought Scaccianoce an Oscar nomination in 1967 . "Especially his work for Pasolini and Fellini proved Scaccianoces great artistry and his creative power in the implementation of imaginations and fantasies in three-dimensional spaces."
