Luigi del Gallo Roccagiovine

Luigi del Gallo, Marchese di Roccagiovine (* July 12, 1922 in Rome ; † May 12, 2011 ibid) was a Curia Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Luigi del Gallo Roccagiovine was born the third of four children to Marquis Alessandro del Gallo Roccagiovine and his wife Maria Rosaria Lepri . After studying Catholic theology and philosophy , he was ordained a priest on March 19, 1950 in Rome . He was responsible for the Pope's personal visitors; later, until the reform of the Roman Curia in 1968, he held the office of vestiarius (cloakroom master) in the papal family .

Pope . John Paul II appointed him on 22 December 1983, titular bishop of Camplum and donated to him on January 6 next year in St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination ; Co-consecrators were Eduardo Martínez Somalo , substitute in the Vatican State Secretariat , and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples .

Luigi del Gallo Roccagiovine was in the Pontifical Council for the Laity from 1982 to 1997 Apostolic Delegate for the Catholic Scouts. He was Spiritual of the Roman Church of the Congregazione degli Operai della Divina Pietà and Assessor of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and member of the Presidium of the Collegio Araldico .

In 1997 John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He lived in the Palazzo del Gallo di Roccagiovine, which was built in 1520 by Baldassare Peruzzi , at the Trajan's Forum .
