Luis Elias Figge (born June 2, 1997 in Korbach ) is a German basketball player . The 1.97 meter long winger has been part of the BV Chemnitz 99 squad since summer 2019 .

Player career

Figge is a child of the youth work of the Paderborn Basket 91 eV In the age groups U14 and U16 he won the German championship with the club in 2011 and 2012 respectively. As a teenager, he also did alpine and Nordic skiing in Winterberg , where he mostly spent the weekends, and won several West German biathlon champions as well as the German Biathlon Student Cup in winter 2010/11. After playing basketball and biathlon in parallel for years, he ultimately decided to go for team sports. During the 2013/14 season he made his debut in Paderborn's first men's team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA and continuously increased his playing time there in the two following years. In the course of the ProA season 2015/16 Figge completed 30 games and achieved mean values of 8.1 points as well as two assists and 1.8 rebounds per encounter.

At the beginning of June 2016, Bundesliga club Basketball Löwen Braunschweig announced Figges commitment. He received a three-year contract and was awarded a double license for assignments at Braunschweig's cooperation partner MTV Wolfenbüttel from 2012 Herzöge Basketball e. V. ( 2nd Bundesliga ProB ). Figge made his first appearance in the Bundesliga on the first matchday of the 2016/17 season in Braunschweig's win against Vechta. He was on the field in Braunschweig's colors in a total of 56 Bundesliga games, but did not make the breakthrough there, which was also due to injury concerns (three metatarsal fractures). In summer 2019 Figge was signed by the second division team Niners Chemnitz . He was at the top of the table with Chemnitz when the 2019/20 season was canceled in mid-March 2020 due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus , which is why Figge and his team were given the right to promotion to the Bundesliga.

National team

In 2013 Figge was appointed to the German U16 national team, with whom he traveled to the Ukraine for the European Championships in the same year. In 2014 he won the B-EM with the U18 national team. In 2015 he was part of the German squad for the U18 European Championship and in 2016 advanced to the European Championship semi-finals with the U20 national team. In 2019 he was appointed to the German U23 national team in the basketball game "3-on-3" .
