history

The Luise was built in 1910 in the Gebr. Wiemann shipyard in Brandenburg an der Havel for August Schultze from Woltersdorf and Wilhelm Koch from Mützel . The steamer had a standing double expansion steam engine with an output of 75  hp (about 55 kW). The tugboat was in use for Schultze & Koch for 17 years. Wilhelm Jeserich acquired the ship in 1927. The home port was Brandenburg. In 1941 Luise's steam engine was rebuilt and its output increased to 90 hp. Wilhelm Jeserich remained the owner of the ship until 1959, before Erich Jeserich took over. He had the steam tug with the identification D 1-535 deleted from the active ship register in 1964 .

In 1968 Lothar Geisendorf bought Luise for the sum of 80  marks . The steamer was transferred to Potsdam for 100 marks . It was planned to convert the steam tug into a leisure ship. This project failed when interested parties withdrew. Reinhard Schallock then took over the ship. The home port was Geltow . Schallock had the steam engine removed and replaced with a diesel engine . An exchange engine EM 4-22 from VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau , a four-stroke diesel with 4 cylinders, water-cooled was installed. The engine was built in 1958. It has an output of 90 hp (66 kW) at a speed of 2200 min −1 . This engine was also installed in the S4000-1 truck . As a result of this conversion, the mass of Luise was reduced from 65 to about 45 tons.

In 2012, Conrad Helmcke from Saaringen acquired the ship, which received the BRB-HH 10 sport boat license. On September 25, 2012, the Luise was transferred across the Havel from her location in Geltow to Brandenburg an der Havel. The ship covered the distance on its own. The home port was again Brandenburg an der Havel. The first overhaul and repair of the former steamer followed. On April 22, 2013, he moved to the historic port of Brandenburg a. d. Havel e. V. From March 31, 2014 to October 24, 2014, the Luise was extensively repaired in the Genthin shipyard of the SET Schiffbau- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Tangermünde. The deck was partially renewed, the rudder system was overhauled, damaged areas on the hull were welded and the hull was given a new coat of paint.

Since the renovation, the Luise has been on display as a museum ship in the historic harbor on the Havel at the former Gebr. Wiemann shipyard near the Millennium Bridge in Brandenburg's city center. For the 2015 Federal Horticultural Show , Luise was moored next to the Nordstern steam tractor at the Bugapark Packhof and was an exhibit. One of the stylized flower boats on the garden show site was named after the former steam tug.
