Luise Marie von der Pfalz (* July 23, 1647 in Paris , † March 11, 1679 in Aachen ) was a titular Countess Palatine from the line Pfalz-Simmern and by marriage Princess of Salm .

Life

Luise Marie was a daughter of Prince Eduard von der Pfalz (1625–1663) from his marriage to Anna (1616–1684), daughter of Carlo I. Gonzaga , Duke of Mantua, Montferrat, Nevers and Rethel. Her father went to Paris in 1645 and converted to Catholicism in order to be able to get married. Luise Marie, like her sisters Anna Henriette and Benedicta Henriette , grew up Catholic. If she had been Protestant , she and her descendants would have been heirs to the throne of Great Britain , which her cousin George I ascended in 1715 .

She married on March 20, 1671 in Asnières-sur-Seine as his second wife Prince Karl Theodor zu Salm (1645–1710), chief steward of Emperor Joseph I.
