Luitpold Baumann (born December 4, 1844 in Dettelbach ; † May 4, 1919 there ) was a winery owner, mayor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Baumann attended elementary school and then worked first in his parents' profession, a bookbinding. Then he took over larger vineyard holdings and from 1884 ran a wine trade that spread across Germany. In 1870/71 the 10th Bavarian Jäger Battalion took part in the war against France (storming of Weißenburg , battles of Wörth and Sedan , siege of Paris ). From 1875 he was a member of the city administration and from 1893 a member of the district committee. In 1896 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Dettelbach and from 1900 he was mayor of Dettelbach, which he remained until his death.

From 1881 to 1907 he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament for the constituency of Würzburg II. Between 1898 and 1918 he was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency of Lower Franconia 2 ( Kitzingen , Gerolzhofen , Ochsenfurt , Volkach ) and the German Center Party . In the Reichstag he was a speaker on the wine law. He also made a contribution to the Dettelbach rail link.

He was awarded the war memorial from 1870/71 and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Medal. He was also the holder of the Prince Regent Luitpold Medal as well as the Agricultural Jubilee Medal, the medal for 25 years of fire service and 25 years of veteranship.
