Lukas Kletzander

Lukas Reinhold Kletzander (born June 25, 1987 in Oberndorf near Salzburg ) is an Austrian jazz pianist and composer .

Life

Kletzander studied from 2006 to 2014 at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz with Martin Stepanik, Dejan Pečenko , Andreas Schreiber and Christoph Cech and also had lessons with John Taylor in London and Fred Hersch in New York. He has also participated in workshops with Huw Warren , Richie Beirach , Aaron Parks , Malcolm Braff , George Garzone , Mark Feldman , Randy Brecker , Reggie Washington , Oliver Lake , Nguyên Lê . Lukas Kletzander's tours took him through Austria, Germany, Italy, Croatia and Switzerland.

With his band Peter, Lois & Lukes and the New York vibraphonist Tim Collins , he released his debut album What Really Happens in a Molehill (JazzIT label) in March 2011 and shortly afterwards he won the Startbahn Jazz Competition in Straubing. His second mainstay as a leader was the Lukas Kletzander Trio, which appeared in 2015 with more wind instruments.

Kletzander also worked with Harry Sokal , Andreas Schreiber, Charlie Haynes and Tim Collins and participated in the projects Just the Three of Us (3 Kla4e), JazzIT Funk Orchestra, Soundpost and El Conde y los locos locales . In October and November 2011, he recorded a sound carrier with the JazzIT Funk Orchestra and the Icelandic formation Soundpost, both of which were released in 2012.

In 2016 Kletzander played music for three pianos at the Salzburg Piano Festival together with his colleagues Martin Reiter and Martin Gasselsberger and works with the Sharp Five quintet (with Joschi Öttl, Chris Kronreif, Gernot Haslauer and Robert Kainar). This collaboration resulted in an album that was released in 2017.
