Luodian (Shanghai)

Luodian ( Chinese  罗 店 , Pinyin Luódiàn ) is a town in the Baoshan district , around 25 km from downtown Shanghai . The old town of Luodian already existed in the Yuan Dynasty . Recent developments include the Luodian Industrial Zone and the new planned town of Luodian New Town , also known as North European New Town , with Scandinavian-style architecture.

In 2008, Luodian had 49,700 registered residents, extended over 44 km² and is connected via Line 7 of the Shanghai Metro , the northern expansion of which to Meilan Lake Station was opened in 2010.

history

In the Second Battle of Shanghai in the fall of 1937, Luodian was one of the most fierce defensive positions in the Chinese army. General Alexander von Falkenhausen , the head of the German military mission in China , led the troops under his command in Luodian against the Japanese in September 1937.

Luodian New Town is part of the initiative, a city nine places ( One City, Nine Towns ) , which launched in the 2,001th It was set to run from 2001 to 2005 for the duration of the tenth Chinese five-year plan . Each suburban district of Shanghai was assigned a new planned city with its own theme. Luodian was given the new city in Swedish style. The Luodian Industrial Zone extends over 2.7 km². It is part of the Shanghai Baoshan Industrial Zone .
