Pujiang (Shanghai)

Pujiang ( Chinese  浦江 , Pinyin Pǔjiāng ; in Shanghai dialect : Phugaon ) is a city in the Minhang District of Shanghai in China . Located in it, the Pujiang New Town , a planned city in the Italian architectural style, which is sometimes referred to as "Città di Pujiang". Pujiang also includes Zhaojialou ( Chinese  召 稼 楼 , Pinyin Zhàojiàlóu ; in Shanghai dialect: Tsogalheu ), an old water town that is gradually giving way to the expansion of the Caohejing Pujiang Technology Park and the center of the National Civil Aviation Industry.

Pujiang is 102 km², had 101,900 registered residents in 2008 and is located on the east bank of the Huangpu Jiang in the middle of Shanghai. Pujiang is connected via Line 8 of the Shanghai Metro , which was expanded to the south in 2009.

The planned city

Pujiang New Town is part of the One City, Nine Towns project , which began in 2001 and was part of the People's Republic of China's Five-Year Plan (2001-2005). Each district of Shanghai got a new planned city with its own western theme. Pujiang got the planned town of the Minhang district in the Italian style. Further topics were Luodian (Scandinavian), Thames Town (English), Fengcheng (Spanish), Gaoqiao (Dutch) and Anting (German).

The Italian architects from Gregotti Associati planned the new square city with a total area of ​​over 15 km². A 2.6 km² section in the north of the city was co-developed by Highpower-OCT Investment. In this part there are garden villas , an Italian palace and a piazza with a bell tower . However, this Italian architecture was not used in the now densely populated southeastern part of the city, where people were evicted during the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai. By 2010 the new planned city officially had around 50,000 inhabitants. The construction work was not finished in March 2012.

Zhaojialou

Zhaojialou is an old water town that has undergone extensive renovations and renovations. After three years of restoration, one of three construction phases was completed in 2010.

The Caohejing Technology Park is an industrial area with an area of ​​10.7 km². It was expanded to include the Caohejing export area, the Pujiang Intelligence Valley Business Park and the Shanghai National 863 Software Incubator Base.

The National Civil Aviation Industry Center was established in 2007 with the aim of creating an aerospace research development center, an aviation industrial park and an aviation museum. Shanghai Minhang Modern Agriculture Garden was opened in Pujiang in 2000. It has an area of ​​27 km².
