The Lupfen landscape protection area is a landscape protection area (LSG number 3.27.071) in the area of ​​the communities of Durchhausen Talheim and Seitingen-Oberflacht , which was designated by the Tuttlingen District Office of April 22, 1996 .

Location and description

The protected area is around one kilometer south of Durchhausen. It includes the 977 meter high witness mountain of the same name in the Swabian Alb . The area belongs to the natural area 121- Baar within the natural main unit 12- Gäuplatten in the Neckar and Tauberland .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is to preserve the summit of the Lupfen with its species-rich mixed forest, as well as the slope areas with lines of hedge or wood strips that characterize the landscape, as well as juniper heaths because of their uniqueness and beauty and to ensure their recreational value for the general public. Furthermore, the areas are to be preserved and secured as a habitat for the plants and animals that occur there.
