history

On March 5, 1905, an association was founded to build a parish church for the Johannesvorstadt, whose inhabitants had previously been assigned to the parish of the Augustinian Church in the old town. In 1913 the parish hall was built on Gerberstrasse. The construction of the actual church was prevented by the First World War , before the groundbreaking for the construction of the church according to plans by the Berlin architect Peter Jürgensen was carried out on June 7, 1926 . On December 10, 1927, the church was consecrated by the Luther Church, which had been founded in 1921.
