Lutz Heuser

Lutz Heuser (born November 3, 1962 ) is a German computer scientist and manager .

Education and research areas

Lutz Heuser studied computer science at the TU Darmstadt and received his doctorate in 1991 from the TH Karlsruhe . He dealt with object-oriented programming in distributed computing . At SAP, he continued these investigations in the development of workflow management systems and web- based application systems . He also deals with concepts of an Internet of Things with the use of radio chips ( RFID ).

Professional background

Heuser began his career in 1987 as a project manager at Digital Equipment in Karlsruhe , where he headed the Campus-based Engineering Center (CEC) Karlsruhe from 1992 to 1997. From 1999 to 2010 he was head of the research department at Walldorf-based SAP AG . Heuser chaired ISTAG (Information Society Technologies Advisory Group of the European Commission) from 2008 to 2012. In 2006 he founded the International Research Forum, which takes place every spring. He is involved in graduate funding and research. From September 2010 to April 2012 Heuser was the Chief Technology Officer of AGT International and at the same time the spokesman for the management of AGT Germany. Since August 2012, Heuser has been Chief Technology Officer of the Urban Software Institute, an incubator for products and solutions for Smart Cities.

Awards

Lutz Heuser was appointed honorary professor at the TU Darmstadt in 2004 and received an honorary doctorate from the TU Dresden in 2008 . He has been visiting professor at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane since 2004 . He is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) . He is a member of the Feldafing working group. Since 2013 he has been a member of the expert group for the European Innovation Partnership "Smart Cities and Communities" (EIP SCC). Since 2014 he has been a member of the expert group of the national platform Zukunftsstadt and the expert group of the national platform Internet-based services for the economy . From 2008 to 2009 he was a member of the Presidium of the VDE .
